About
Aging Maps is an interactive platform that helps São Paulo understand—and respond to—rapid population aging.
It brings together public data on demographics, health, social support, mobility, safety, and the urban environment so communities and decision-makers can see where older residents live, what resources exist, and where gaps persist.
Built by a multidisciplinary research team at the University of São Paulo (USP), Aging Maps combines clear geospatial visualization with analytical methods to reveal patterns and inequities that matter for healthy aging. The platform is co-designed with older residents through focus groups across different neighborhoods and will be updated as new data and sources become available—serving as a living resource for policy, research, and age-friendly city planning.
